The Power of a Dream…..
If you think about it, every major invention or revolutionary development started out as someone’s dream/idea. The first airplane and man having the ability to fly, man being able to travel by a means other than horse and the creation of the automobile. The Wright Brothers and Henry Ford had a dream and they took action to make that dream a reality. Their success at fulfilling their dream has had a ripple effect that’s been felt all the way through to you and I today. Can you imagine a world without airplanes or automobiles? Me either! Even freedom and equality for all men started out as a dream seen within Abraham Lincoln and then to Martin Luther King. Dreams are powerful motivators for change and advancement.
You may be thinking, “What’s this got to do with me?” “What’s your point?” My point is this, what’s your dream? If you say you don’t have one…. I want you to stop for a moment and think of a time when you did have a dream. What was it? Have you stopped daring to dream. Although as we grow up, many times our dreams change, but we should never stop dreaming.
Amazing organization’s like USACares, who does wonderful life changing work to help veterans and their families, is an example of people having a dream to help veterans in need and by pursuing that dream an organization was developed and is growing today that literally saves the lives of veterans and their families.
Your dream may not seem revolutionary or life changing to you, but who knows where it could lead. My husband and I have many dreams, but one dream is to someday have our own large, no kill dog shelter/animal sanctuary in Kentucky. Currently living in a 3BR home in a Lexington subdivision doesn’t exactly afford us the ability to make that dream a reality, YET! ;). However, in the mean time we are doing what we can to make a difference…. We have four (4) rescue dogs, we are constantly raising awareness and encouraging folks to adopt instead of buy a pet, and we donate financially to organization’s already in existence that are helping animals in need. Will we ever stop dreaming about opening our own animal sanctuary? Nope! Even if it never happens, we will still dream that it will become a reality and in the mean time do what we can to make a difference where we can and how we can.
I want to encourage you today that you’re never too old and it’s never too late to dream. Never let anyone crush or steal your dreams. While your dreams are in the process of becoming a reality, do what you can, where you can to make a positive lasting impression in the lives of those around you. You can impact the world one person at a time.
